Door (Usha)
Bengaluru
My object is the front door that lets you move out into the world and invites others in. The lockdown changed this. Outside the door was a danger zone. We thought we were protected from the virus. What the door did was to separate us from neighbors, friends, and the rest of the neighborhood and city. The outside which meant freedom and conviviality was now dangerous. Doors shut us in but not the virus.
I’d like to remember or maybe forget the fear of open doors. The fear of others, the obsession with one’s own mortality, the fragility of life.
