Ariana Chaivaranon is a Thai-born artist and curator based in Chiang Mai. Chaivaranon has worked in the U.S., China, and Thailand to cultivate connections between diverse publics and globally renowned art collections, including the National Gallery of Art, the Beijing Palace Museum, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art, The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Harvard Art Museums, and The Frick Collection. Chaivaranon’s scholarship on Thai contemporary art appears in publications including Art & Market, MoMA (NY) post, Southeast of Now: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asia, and UNSW (Sydney) Di’van Journal. Chaivaranon’s artwork (painting, printmaking, sculpture) explores “noise” as a physical texture that problematizes the logic of binaries and boundaries. Chaivaranon holds a B.A. from Harvard University in Art, Film, and Visual Studies and Art History, as well as an M.A. in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University, Schwarzman Scholars.
