His photographic work focuses on his immediate domestic environment and includes his projects All Quiet on the Home Front and German Family Album. He also has a deep interest in photography, the environment and sustainability and has photographed and written on seaweed farming in Bali, the threatened lives of islanders on Komodo, and urban architecture in Jakarta. He co-wrote and edited Magnum China and currently writes for a range of organisations and publications including Magnum, The British Journal of Photography, and Source Magazine. He is currently writing a year-long series of articles on photography, ethics and storytelling for World Press Photo Witness. Colin is interested in how to tell complex stories using the personal elements that create empathy, engagement and (possibly) change.
