Pha Tad Khe Botanical Garden, contemporary arts space
Phart is the landscape designer and head gardener at Pha Tad Khe Botanical Garden in Luang Prabang. In late 2019, Pha Tad Khe will expand to include Project Space, a series of traditional wooden houses dedicated to exhibitions and artist residencies. They will showcase both contemporary and traditional work, and make arts and culture an even more vibrant part of the garden. Pat first started working as part of his family’s pottery production business, focusing on clay and pottery design. In 2010 he joined Pha Tad Ke Botanical Garden as a landscape designer. As well as designing the PTK Botanical Garden, his role includes managing teams, organizing workshops and training for students and the local community and organising cultural events with local and international artists. Pat has worked in stencilling, pottery design, flower arrangement, botanical drawing and bamboo handicrafts. He has published two horticulture menus in Laos for local communities and students of colleges and universities.
